Ashton Surber, a footballer who was born and raised on Guam and, according to an article on FIFA.com from 2013, serves in the US Air Force, achieved the remarkable hat-trick of scoring a bicycle kick, proposing to his now fiancee and receiving a caution for removing his shirt.
Back in 2013, Surber was in the spotlight when he scored 40 goals in Guam’s top flight, only six less than Lionel Messi’s remarkable 46 during that same season. Now, he’s once again become a global sensation with his Romeo-esque sacrifice in the name of love.
If there’s anyway to prove your undying fidelity, it’s by marking your proposal with a bicycle kick and revealing a custom screen printed tee — it’s the equivalent of shooting your beloved with Cupid’s arrow. According to the Guam Football Association, she said yes. It's unknown what Surber planned on doing if he would've encountered a massive goal drought lasting until the end of his days.
