Christian Pulisic’s 2017 is off to a fine start after the 18-year-old American scored in Borussia Dortmund’s friendly victory over PSV Eindhoven during the Bundesliga’s winter break.
Yeah, it was only a friendly, but scoring a goal against Champions League opposition still probably means more than taking it to the Colorado Rapids.
Pulisic scored off a Andre Schurrle cutback for Dortmund’s fourth goal in their 4-1 victory.
Fears surrounding a lack of playing time at Dortmund this year, and the rumors of a subsequent transfer in search of some, have proven to be completely unfounded over the first half of the season.
Dortmund are a disappointing sixth in the table, but Pulisic has appeared in 12 Bundesliga matches while scoring two goals and registering four assists. A 12-point deficit to Bayern Munich means they’ll almost certainly turn their full attention to the Champions League — a competition that manager Thomas Tuchel has heavily favored Pulisic in. Dortmund face Benfica in the round of 16 with the first leg coming on February 14.
