Miguel Almirón triggered the nostalgia train for Atlanta United fans on Wednesday when he scored in Mercedes-Benz Stadium for Newcastle during a friendly vs. Chelsea. After the goal he hit the old Miguel Almirón Josef Martínez celebration special.

Martínez was loving it and posted on Twitter that he was proud and happy for his former teammate.

Also, for those out of the loop, the celebration between the pair is a reference to the show “Dragonball Z” and the fusion pose.

These two were so much fun to watch back in the day. It’s crazy to think that their MLS Cup victory was already half a decade ago. In that 2018 season the duo combined for 48 goals and 19 assists.
Five years later Martínez is playing with Lionel Messi in Miami and Almirón is coming off a season with 11 Premier League goals. How times have changed.
Almirón departed Atlanta United for Newcastle in January 2019 for an MLS record fee of $27 million. Three and a half years later and the fans of Atlanta still show love for their former star.
